RIDI is looking for talented Webtoon editors to help bring our original and licensed content to a global audience on our comic platform, Manta.
As a remote freelancer, you will ensure our English-localized webtoons maintain the highest quality, capturing the nuance of the original Korean work while providing a seamless reading experience for a global audience.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance: Edit and QC English translations of Korean webtoons to ensure error-free, publication-ready episodes.
Content Refining: Enhance writing style, tone, and flow; fix unnatural English usage or “translation-ese.”
Accuracy Check: Compare source (KR) and target (EN) texts to catch mistranslations, context issues, or continuity errors (names, plot points, etc.).
Proofreading: Thoroughly check for typos, punctuation, and grammar.
Visual QC: Spot design errors such as missing elements or file issues.
Compliance: Ensure all content adheres to RIDI’s English Translation Guidelines.
Qualifications
Native-level fluency in English with a solid grasp of American English grammar/punctuation.
Advanced Korean proficiency (TOPIK 5+ or equivalent/KIIP 5+ preferred).
Professional experience in proofreading, editing, or translation.
Impeccable attention to detail and a passion for storytelling.
Preferred Qualities
Direct experience in webtoon/comic localization.
Flexible availability during weekdays (Please specify your weekly capacity in your resume).
Working Conditions
Location: 100% Remote (Candidates residing in Korea must hold a valid work visa).
Schedule: Flexible, project-based, depending on the publishing cycle.
